Account security
  • Encryption
    We use industry-standard encryption protocols to protect all customer data. This includes AES-256-bit or stronger encryption for data at rest (e.g., databases, cloud storage) and TLS 1.2 or higher for data in transit. All data processing and storage are performed in compliance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Personal Data Protection.
  • Idle Lockouts
    For additional security, Modu automatically signs users out after a period of inactivity to prevent unauthorized access. Session timeouts are enforced across all devices.
  • Security Policy
    We enforce a strict Content Security Policy (CSP) and iFrame protection to mitigate threats such as ClickJacking. Regular vulnerability scans and penetration tests are conducted to proactively identify and address potential security risks.

    Secure ID and password
    Modu enforces strong password requirements and supports biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) in our mobile app to keep your account safe.

    Activity confirmation
    We use automated and manual review processes to confirm sensitive account changes – such as password resets or payment details updates – to prevent unauthorized access.

    Device and ID verification
    Every new browser or device requires a one-time authorization, and we require two-factor authentication (2FA) for an extra layer of security.

    Single Sign-On (SSO) integration
    Modu supports SSO via Okta, Microsoft, Google Workspace, and other identity providers (IdPs) using OIDC or SAML – ensuring secure, seamless login for teams.
How Modu prevents fraud
Modu uses advanced AI-driven systems to detect patterns of fraudulent activity. Our technology can spot unusual behavior in real time and flag it for detailed review.

If we detect that a payment or transaction might be suspicious, we’ll send you an immediate alert via email – never ignore these warnings. Take a moment to verify the situation before proceeding, and contact us if you have any doubts.

To ensure the authenticity of our communications, Modu implements Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) and Verified Mark Certificates (VMCs). All legitimate Modu emails include a verified blue Gmail checkmark, so you can easily distinguish us from impersonators.

How can I protect myself?
Protect your passwords
Choose strong, unique passwords, and store them in a password manager if possible. This can prevent fraudsters from gaining access to your online Brex account or linked email accounts and helps prevent ID theft.
Be vigilant about suspicious requests
Modu will never ask you to share personal information via email or text, nor will we request your full card number. Avoid clicking on unsolicited links, opening unexpected attachments, or installing unverified applications. Modu will never require you to install a browser extension to log in. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of a request, please contact Modu Support immediately.
Stay aware of scams
Fraudsters may attempt to obtain sensitive information, such as your account or card details, by posing as trusted entities. To stay safe, always access Modu services by navigating directly to modu.com. If you encounter a scam – such as a fake Modu website, ad, or message – report it to Modu Support immediately.
Protect your account and card details
Enter your card number only on trusted, secure websites during checkout. Never share your card details via email, chat, or other messaging platforms. Always ensure the connection is encrypted (look for “https://” and a lock icon in your browser).
Review Your Security & Privacy Settings
Regularly check your company’s security settings in the Modu dashboard to ensure your data and accounts remain protected. Configure security preferences at the organization or user level to maintain strong safeguards across your team.
Monitor Your Credit Limit and Transactions
To protect against fraud or identity theft, regularly review your credit limit usage and transaction history in Modu to ensure all activity is legitimate. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your Modu password immediately and contact Modu Support.

Modu is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking and payment services in Kazakhstan are provided by Bank RBK JSC (License No. 1.2.100/245/41, issued by the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market – AFRDFM). All client accounts and transactions are held and processed by Bank RBK JSC under applicable laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Funds deposited into Modu Business Accounts are protected by the Kazakhstan Deposit Insurance Fund (KDIF) within the limits established by law. Deposit insurance covers the failure of an insured bank.

Modu operates as a Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform, providing financial technology services in partnership with Bank RBK JSC and other licensed financial institutions. Certain additional services, including payment processing, lending, or investment products, may be offered through Modu’s partners or affiliates under separate licenses.
