Creating and sending an invoice
Modu Invoicing lets you create polished invoices right from your dashboard and email them to your customer together with a payment link. This guide covers how to create an invoice and set up its details before sending it.
How to create an invoice
1. Getting started
- Go to Invoicing in the left-hand menu of your Modu dashboard
- Click Create invoice
2. Add a customer
- Choose an existing customer in the Name field, or select + Add new customer
- For a new customer you'll need a name and email; a mailing address is optional
- For a Kazakhstan customer you can also enter a BIN / IIN — it's printed on receipts and completion certificates (AVR)
3. Choose what to send
- Create a one-time or recurring invoice — a formal invoice with a built-in payment link, or a series sent automatically on a schedule
- Request money without an invoice — only a payment link with a single amount, for informal one-off requests
- Click Next

4. Choose currency and destination account
- Select the Currency of the invoice — your customer pays in this currency
- Select the Destination account your customer's payment will be deposited into
5. Set the invoice number
- An Invoice number is generated automatically, but you can replace it with any combination of numbers and letters
- The number must be unique — if it's already used, you'll see a message right under the field
- Optionally enter a PO number if your customer uses purchase orders to track their purchasing
6. Add line items
- For each line item, enter an Item, Qty and Unit price
- Pick an item from your catalog or type a one-off item
- Click Add line item to add more rows
- Click Add tax to apply a tax rate in percent — the total updates automatically

7. Set dates
- Choose the Invoice date and Due date
- If service periods are turned on in invoice settings, enter the Service period (from / to)
- Turn on Repeat this invoice to create a recurring series instead of a one-time invoice
8. Add a memo and attachments
- Add an optional Payer memo — it appears on the invoice
- Optionally choose the Payment purpose code (KNP) — it's added to the payment details your customer sees
- Attach files if your customer needs supporting documents
- Use Internal note for your team — it's only visible to members of your organization
9. Review payment methods
- These payment methods are always on for your customers: Intra-bank / domestic transfer, Pay with Modu and International wire
- Accepting credit cards is temporarily unavailable while we finalize a partnership with a banking provider
Final steps
10. Review and send
- On the Review & Send screen, check your invoice
- Modu pre-fills your customer's email; add more addresses under CC to copy them
- To send later, turn on Schedule send and choose the date
- Click Create Only to create the invoice without emailing it, or Create & Send Email to send it right away
11. Share and track
- After creating, copy the invoice payment link or click Download PDF
- All invoices can be viewed and managed from your Invoicing page
